Woman receives hundreds of birthday cards after sister’s card drive

Posted

PORTAGE, Mich. -- A West Michigan woman who wanted homemade cards for her birthday received hundreds after her sister posted a request for them on social media.

FOX 17 first told you about Missy Engberts in June.   She was diagnosed with epilepsy as a child and doctors said she wouldn't live to see her teenage years.   This year, she celebrated her 50th birthday.

She wanted very little for her birthday party: a basic food spread, a pool party and, most of all, homemade cards.  Engberts makes homemade cards herself; drawing and coloring is therapeutic for her.

Her sister, Bobbie Leach, posted a request on social media asking people to make cards for her sister.
