Woman charged in Kalamazoo crash that killed 4-year-old boy

KALAMAZOO TWP., Mich. – A woman has been charged with three felonies for a crash that killed a four-year-old boy in April.

Nicole Holly Camden is charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and two counts of Operating While Intoxicated with an occupant who is less than 16 years old.  She is also charged with Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, which is a misdemeanor.

According to Kalamazoo Township police, Camden was driving a van on Business Route 131 when she failed to negotiate a curve and rolled her van. Another man, Jewell Cotton, was in the front seat. Cotton’s son, Jayden Johnson, 4, was in the back seat and was ejected and killed in the crash.  Another boy, a six-year-old, was in the back seat and not injured.

Police say that Camden turned herself in Tuesday afternoon.  She is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
