Abbie Kopf in ‘long, boring portion’ of her recovery

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Abbie Kopf was able to get out and enjoy a little bit of the outdoors over the holiday week.

Kopf was critically wounded in her head during a shooting spree in February that left six people dead and another woman wounded.  Kopf had part of her skull blown away.  She had a plate implanted in her head to replace that part of her skull, but she developed an infection and had to have it removed last month.  Her body now has to heal for several weeks, before doctors try and replace the plate again.

In posts on the Abbie Kopf’s Recovery Facebook page, her family shared pictures of their outing to the Kalamazoo Bird Sanctuary, but said that Abbie is bored and can’t get out much because of being hooked up to an IV and is not able to be outside much.  They say they are now in a “long, boring portion of recovery.”
