Woman dies after motorcyclist crashes into stopped truck in Grand Haven

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — A woman died in Grand Haven Tuesday after her motorcycle collided into a pick-up truck.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a couple from Louisiana – Elizabeth and Edward Johnston – were traveling on a motorcycle north on US-31 near Comstock Street when they came upon backed up traffic. Edward, 65, was reportedly distracted while driving and didn’t have time to stop before colliding into a pick-up truck.

Elizabeth, 55, was a passenger on the motorcycle and was ejected from the bike. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Edward escaped with non-life threatening injuries.

The stretch of road was closed for around 2 hours following the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
