HASTINGS, Mich. — An Ohio man was sentenced to between 25 and 60 years in prison Thursday for the October armed robbery at the Hastings Walgreens.
Eric Gregory Lawson pleaded no contest to an armed robbery charge in connection with the Oct. 14, 2015 incident. Barry County Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor Pratt says Lawson robbed the store while he was on his way to visit a friend in Kent County.
He was charged with going to the Walgreens Pharmacy and giving a note to an employee saying that he had a gun. He also allegedly robbed another employee while leaving the store, according to Hastings Police.
Lawson was arrested Oct. 17 in Grand Rapids.
“Lawson is a menace to society and this sentence is well deserved,” Pratt said in a release. “He has no empathy or respect for what he has put the victims and our community through.”
