KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Hundreds of cyclists participated in a silent ride Wednesday to honor the victims of a gruesome crash in Kalamazoo County.

Five people were killed and four others were injured Tuesday when a pick-up truck crashed into a group of bicyclists in the 5500 block of N. Westnedge Avenue.

Sheila Wood, a teacher at Gull Lake High School, helped organize  Wednesday's ride.

"They are part of the community, the cyclists.  Everybody knows everybody," Wood said.  "This is our shared grief."

Wednesday Evening Rides, a cycling club in Grand Rapids, also showed solidarity with the victim's of Tuesday's crash.   More than 30 cyclists gathered at Veterans Park to pay their respects.

"It's a ride of solidarity," said Ray Brown.  "And the whole concept of tonight's ride is to keep people that perished, the people that were injured and their families and loved ones in mind as you ride."
