GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A gala and rededication mark thereopening of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum after months of renovations.

A pre-opening gala is Monday at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Grand Rapids. Ford died in 2006, but family members will attend. Former Vice President Dick Cheney, a member of Ford's cabinet, is scheduled to speak.

On Tuesday, a rededication ceremony is planned and the museum opens along with the new DeVos Learning Center. Cheney is among the scheduled speakers.

Ford was a congressman from Grand Rapids before becoming vice president and then president following Richard Nixon's 1974 resignation.
