ALLEGAN, Mich. — A convicted felon accused of leading police on a chase this weekend was formally charged Tuesday.

Mark David Wood, 53, was arraigned by video from the Allegan County Jail.  He is charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Assault and Resisting and Obstructing Officers.  Deputies tried to pull him over on an outstanding warrant for allegedly operating a meth lab.

Wood spent seven and a half years in prison for leading police on a high speed chase in 2005 that resulted in the death of Mattawan Police Officer Scot Beyerstedt. This past weekend, Wood apparently tried to outrun police again in Wayland.  A 45-year-old woman broke her collarbone when she jumped from his vehicle.

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
