WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman was injured and a man was arrested on multiple charges following a police chase in Allegan County over the weekend.

The initial traffic stop occurred around 2:20 p.m. on 10th Street near 129th Avenue in Wayland Township.

Michigan State Police said a trooper tried pull over a suspect after he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign. Police noted the suspect also had “numerous equipment violations.” The suspect took off and during the police chase a 45-year-old female passenger opened the door and jumped from the moving vehicle. MSP said the woman suffered a broken clavicle and minor injuries.

The police chase lasted for several before the 53-year-old suspect from Kalamazoo allegedly ditched his vehicle when it got stuck on M222 near 14th Street when he tried to drive into the woods. Police said a K-9 unit was brought in to help search for the suspect and he was soon taken into custody.

The suspect was taken to the Allegan County Jail on an outstanding warrant for operating and maintaining a meth lab. He also faces charges of fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing.

The male suspect was not identified.
