Vehicle crashes near Stevenson Lake, driver arrested

CLARE, Mich. — A 38-year-old man is in custody on OUIL charges after crashes into a pile of wood chips and resisting arrest.

Isabella County Sheriff’s deputies  were called to Stevenson Lake Monday after reports of a vehicle that had possibly been driven into the water. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find that no one was inside the 2011 Chevy Cruz, and it did not crash into the lake.  The vehicle ended up crashing on to a pile of wood chips and mulch.

While investigating, deputies suspected that the man was intoxicated. He was asked to remove chewing tobacco from his mouth and he refused.  As the deputy then started to arrest the man, he resisted.  After being warned of being tasered, he stopped resisting.

The man faces charges of OUIL, Causing an Accident, and Resisting and Obstructing.
