BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A man was arrested after police say he tried to run over an officer with his vehicle.
Around 12:40 Saturday morning, one Battle Creek officer says she heard tires squealing near the 200 block of Battle Creek Avenue.
After seeing a white truck pull behind a home in that area, she then tried to make contact with the driver. Police say the driver of the truck, a 39-year-old man, drove and hit the residence.
The officer then ordered the man out of his truck. Police say the driver didn’t listen to the officer’s orders and drove toward her instead. The officer was able to jump out of the way of the oncoming truck.
Police say the driver then drove toward a patrol vehicle making its way to the scene. The officer in that car was able to avoid being hit as well.
After a short pursuit, the suspect hit three parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
He was arrested and placed into custody. Police say he’s been charges with two counts of felonious assault with a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, and operating under the influence of drugs.
