A good weekend to prepare the air conditioner

WEST MICHIGAN — For now, a ridge of high pressure is keeping it dry and comfortable across the FOX 17 viewing area. However, this ridge will break down by the middle of next week and allow for a warmer, more humid airmass to take its place. Granted, humidity levels won’t be anything to write home about by mid-summer standards, but this will be the most humidity we’ve felt so far in 2016. The increased moisture in the air will mean low temperatures will likely not drop below 60° by the middle of the week.

In fact, dew point temperatures will also approach 60° by Wednesday morning:

This means relative humidities could approach 90 to 100% during the overnight and early morning hours. This increase in humidity along with the higher temperatures will make the air just uncomfortable enough that the air conditioning might be needed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. So if you have some extra time this weekend, it’s probably a good idea to make sure that central air is running smoothly or put those window units in.
