HOLLAND - Tulip Time continued in Holland today, and one of today's main events was the annual Volksparade. Thousands of local residents dressed in traditional Dutch outfits for the parade, and some of them participated in the traditional street scrubbing at the parade's start.
The focus of the parade was on traditions bought in from the Netherlands, with many walkers "klomping" down the streets in traditional wooden shoes. Local bands and businesses participated as well, and some came in from as far away as Canada to take part. "We are from Sharon Ontario, that's just north of Toronto Canada," said Maike Smit. "I came down here to see the parade and visit the woman who made my outfit."
"This one was really cool, there was a lot more people," said Ethan Devereaux who came to watch the parade. "There was more people doing the street brushing than last year I think too. I think overall it was a really great time."
The official Tulip Time Parade will be held this Saturday, and some of FOX 17's very own will be participating.
