LOWELL, Mich. – Students at Cherry Creek Elementary school are being sent home after a small fire at the building Tuesday morning.
Students were evacuated to the Middle School and all of them are safe. School officials posted on their Facebook page that smoke from the small fire had spread through the building ventilation system and will not be cleared in time for students to be able to return to school today.
Parents of students are asked to pick their child up at the Middle School if possible. If not possible, the child will stay at the Middle School until the regular dismissal time and transported home as normal.
School is expected to be open Wednesday.
