MARION TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating a homicide in Osceola County. It started after they responded to a domestic assault call just before 7 p.m. Friday.
While at the scene, neighbors called dispatch and told them they saw the suspect repeatedly running over an 81-year-old man with his car. That victim was pronounced dead at the scene. MSP later identified him as a relative of the suspect.
Troopers say the suspect then left the scene in his car. He eventually crashed into a minivan on M-115 and the suspect died at the scene. MSP later identified the suspect as Thomas Alger, 48, of Marion.
The driver of the minivan and her two teenage male passengers were taken to Cadillac Mercy Hospital. MSP later said one of the teens was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The investigation is ongoing by the Michigan State Police.
