WALKER, Mich. – A Walker man caught a stranger using his trash can to sneak a peek into his master bathroom, a startling discovery recorded on his home security system.

Scott Measure says he found the trash can obscurely positioned under his bathroom window when he went to take it to the curb Friday morning.  He checked his motion-activated camera and found the images of a strange man moving the can in the 2500 block of Randall, NW. Measure contacted Walker Police and filed a report.

“I knew exactly what he was doing, he was looking into windows,” Measure said. “I do not recognize him at all. You really don’t know what’s out there until you see it, you know?” Measure said. “How many people out there don’t have security cameras and someone’s wandering around their house in the middle of the night?”

Four houses down, 20-year-old Brittani Herdon said she too is being watched, receiving what she thought to be random love notes.
“They first started out kind of creepy like, ‘I won’t take my eyes off of you, can’t take my eyes off of you,’” said Herdon.

Curious at first, then the notes took threatening turn.

“Whoever this is told me they will find me and they will kill me,” Herdon said. “That’s when I started locking my doors and being cautious of not being alone.”

At this point, it’s too early to tell if both incidents are connected. Police are looking into the video and increasing patrols in the area this weekend. If you recognize the man caught on tape or have information on these cases, call Walker Police, (616) 453-5441 or Silent Observer, (616) 774-2345.
