ALLENDALE, Mich. — A $20 million upgrade has been approved for the Performing Arts Center at Grand Valley State University.
Trustees approved a new two-story, 44,000-square-foot addition as well as renovation work on Friday, including a new theater with seating for 140 people, two classrooms, theater support spaces, three ensemble rooms and additional space where students will be able to study.
Work on the 15-month project will start next week.
The Performing Arts Center was built in 1971, houses the Louis Armstrong Theatre and is located just east of South Campus Drive on the south side of GVSU’s Allendale campus.
The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2017.
This will mark the fifth such addition to the Performing Arts Center.
