HART, Mich. (AP) — A woman whose husband died after jumping from a pickup truck in western Michigan has been charged with drunken driving.
Cristy Pider appeared in an Oceana County court Tuesday, hours after 34-year-old Donald Pider jumped from the truck and died. The sheriff’s department says the Piders were arguing over whether to return to a party in Rothbury.
Prosecutor Joe Bizon says Pider is not charged with her husband’s death. He says Donald Pider’s death was not directly related to his wife’s alleged drunken driving.
The 33-year-old Pider couldn’t be reached for comment Friday. There’s no listing for a home phone.
Investigators say she made a few stops, including one for pizza, before returning to the scene and finding emergency crews with her husband.
