DOWAGIAC, Mich. (AP) — An Indian tribe is planning to expand a casino in southwestern Michigan.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians says Wednesday the expansion will add 2,700 square feet to an existing 27,000 square feet to make room for 70 slot machines and two table games.

There also will be an exclusive entrance and 70 parking spaces for players that have Copper status through Four Winds Casinos’ player loyalty program.

Construction is expected to begin this spring and finish later this year. The work will not affect current operations at the casino.

The casino currently has about 300 slot machines, five table games and a restaurant.
