LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich. – Surveillance video shows how close two teens were to being killed or severely injured in a crash in Leelanau County.

The crash happened on M-72 just west of Solon Road in Solon Township at Grumpy’s Market.

The video shows a car driven by a 16-year-old Traverse city resident, with a friend as the passenger, trying to turn left out of Grumpy’s Market.  They pull out in front of a semi-truck and trailer from Popp Excavating.  The truck driver, a 32-year-old Wyoming, Michigan man, swerved and avoided hitting the car broadside.  He did however lose control, left the road and took out a sign for the market.

No one was injured.  The teen driver was given a ticket for failure to yield from a private drive.

The Leelanau County Sheriff posted the video to their Facebook page. You can watch it below.
