ALLENDALE, Mich. – Consumers Energy and Grand Valley State University’s Solar Gardens are up and running.
The 11,000 solar panels were installed on 17 acres south of GVSU’s campus in Allendale.
The project began in October. The three-megawatt garden will serve about 600 homes. Consumers is expecting to also build a solar garden at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Consumers Energy just closed seven Michigan coal plants in recent weeks.
