BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Fire crews say a person was found dead inside a Battle Creek house this evening.
It happened in the 30 block of E. Goguac St around 5:30 p.m. When the Battle Creek fire department arrived, they said they found smoke coming out of the second floor and roof line, however no fire was visible. The original caller reported they believed no one was home, but crews found a person on the second floor, where the smoke was the heaviest. That person was removed from the building, but attempts at revival were not successful.
In all, 24 Battle Creek fire personnel responded. No one else was found in the home at the time.
The victim has not been identified yet. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
