BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – The hunt for a convicted killer wanted for a brutal assault outside a Grand Rapids gas station has ended.

Anthony Vronko was taken into custody on March 20 in Brazoria County, Texas.  Federal authorities say he was arrested following a traffic crash.

Vronko was first featured on West Michigan’s Most Wanted in October 2014, wanted for attacking a person outside a Grand Rapids gas station at the corner of Leonard and Fuller NE.  Witnesses and surveillance video at the gas station helped identify Vronko as the suspect in the assault.

Federal authorities say they obtained information that Vronko left the West Michigan area shortly after that assault.

Prior to the assault, Vronko had served seven years in prison for the beating death of a friend.

Authorities say Vronko is facing charges in Texas, which will likely be prosecuted prior to his extradition to Michigan to face charges here.
