CASCADE TWP, Mich. — Deputies with the Kent County Sheriff’s Department say they’re working to locate a man who allegedly brandished a firearm at a business Wednesday morning then ran from authorities.

The incident happened just before noon at a business along 28th Street near Hotel Avenue in Cascade Township.

A man matching the suspect’s description was spotted in a vehicle along 28th Street near Patterson, who refused to stop for authorities leading to a chase.

Responding officers terminated the pursuit after a short distance.  During the pursuit, investigators say a handgun was thrown from the vehicle, a BB gun, which officers say was recovered.

FOX17 spoke with a manager at the Tropical Smoothie on 28th Street, who said a man wearing Cookie Monster pajamas walked into the cafe around noon and ordered a drink. He allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and showed it to the person behind the register before leaving the store. Nobody was hurt.

Kent County deputies say the man is still outstanding and the incident is under investigation.
