ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department is investigating three home invasions that happened overnight in Allendale Township.

"All of those incidences have one common denominator, that the thieves entered unlocked premises," captain Mark Bennett said.

The break-ins happened in the 6100 block of Lincoln Street in Allendale Township.  The sheriff's department said a .38 caliber revolver was among the items that appear to have been stolen.

A purse that was stolen was later recovered in the neighborhood.

The sheriff's department said that in at least one of the break-ins, the suspect entered the home through an unlocked garage.

Bennet said that since Dec. 1 there have been roughly 20 break-ins and 7 larceny reports in Allendale, Tallmadge Township and Wright Township that "fit the same method of operation" as these cases.

Anyone with information on these break-ins is asked to call the sheriff's department at 616-738-4000 or Silent Observer at 877-88-SILENT.
