KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Michigan State Police say 18 sex offenders in the Kalamazoo area were arrested this week for allegedly violating the state’s sex offender registration act.
The arrests come after the homes of 275 Kalamazoo-area sex offenders were checked for compliance with the act in October, according to a release.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued a total of 38 warrants in connection with that sweep. Three people are still wanted by police while eight of the cases are still under investigation, according to police.
Sex offenders in Michigan are required to verify their address with police.
