KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The man on trial for leading police on a chase and a shootout in Portage was found guilty on two charges Thursday.
Aaron Pelletier was found guilty on charges of felony firearms and fleeing police. He was found not guilty of carrying a concealed weapon.
On the last day of testimony today, Pelletier testified that he didn't know there was an AK-47 in the vehicle. He says he didn't pull over for police because he knew there would be a confrontation.
The police were pulling over the Pelletiers because of an outstanding warrant. Pelletier's brother, Sean, was killed in the shootout with police after the stop. Police were cleared of any wrongdoing in the incident.
Pelletier's sentencing is set for May 16.
