MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. – The Sheriff of Montcalm County has announced that he will be retiring and will not be running for re-election in November.
Sheriff Bill Barnwell issued the statement Tuesday. He says that he plans on endorsing his undersheriff, Mike Williams, for the position if he decides to run for the office.
Barnwell said in the statement that he’s spent 40 years in law enforcement and will be wrapping up his fourth term as Sheriff of Montcalm County. He says that he has enjoyed his career and looks forward to spending more time with his wife, family and friends.
