SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. - A Good Samaritan helped out a Schoolcraft Police Sergeant after a traffic stop turned into an altercation Tuesday.
The incident happened about 4:00pm Tuesday on VW Avenue near 16th Street.
Police say the patrol sergeant pulled over a 19-year-old Delton man for speeding. While checking the man's identification, the officer discovered the man had an outstanding warrant from Kalamazoo County for Operating While Intoxicated.
The man complied with the officer and got out of his vehicle, but as the officer went to handcuff him, the man tried to escape. The two fell to the ground, fighting.
A passing bicyclist stopped to assist the officer. A second citizen in a vehicle stopped and called 911. A Vicksburg officer arrived shortly after and finished controlling the suspect.
The man has been arrested on the outstanding warrant and resisting and obstructing an officer.
