PLYMOUTH, Mich — Grand Rapids Catholic Central beat Chelsea, 3-2, in over-time in the division 3 hockey state semifinals on Friday. The Cougars trailed 2-0 after one period, before Brian Pattison scored to make it a 2-1 game in the second. In the third period Chase Madden scored the equalizer on a rebound shot to send the game into over-time tied at 2 and Jack Pendery scored the game winner 5:25 into the extra session.
Catholic Central moves on to the division 1 state title game against Hancock, Saturday at 2 p.m..
Grandville fell to Brighton, 4-1, in the division 1 semifinals. David Breazeale scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs. Grandville was making its third straight trip to the state semifinals.
