WALKER, Mich. -- Believe it or not, there are several people out dog sledding in West Michigan, even with no snow in sight.
Once the snow is gone, members of the Southwest Michigan Husky Clubharness up their dogs for a different type of racing: dry land racing.
Some owners run alongside their dogs, others tie them to their bikes. Some even have special dry land sleds. They will go out with their dogs as long as it's not over 65 degrees.
The Red Scooter was designed specifically for dry land dog sledding.
"You can use just about any any dog to go out and have fun, especially at a dry land event," said Southwest Michigan Husky Club Board Member Jerry Kiel.
