STURGIS, Mich. — Sturgis Police say a Wal-Mart employee was stabbed in the neck Friday while trying to stop a man from shoplifting.
The incident happened at about 12:54 p.m. at the store at 1500 Centerville Rd.
The suspect, a 48-year-old man from Kendallville, Ind., was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee from police. According to release, witnesses provided police with the man’s description and location.
He is facing charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and two counts of resisting and obstructing police. His name will be released pending formal arraignment.
The employee was taken to the hospital and his current condition is unknown at this time.
