Rumored threat closes Loy Norrix HS for Monday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Loy Norrix High School will be closed Monday following an “unspecified threat,” according to Kalamazoo Public Schools.

A Facebook post from the district Sunday night said a threat “has been widely disseminated through social media,” but officials determined the threat was not credible after interviewing a number of students.

However, while police continue to investigate, the school will be closed.

The Facebook post also mentions a second rumor: a suspicious package found in Milham Park earlier Sunday that turned out to be a bag of children’s clothing and baby bottles. The park is located directly across the street from the school.

The Associated Press is reporting that Howell Public Schools are also closed Monday due to an unspecified threat on Twitter.
