ST. JOHNS, Mich. (AP) — A woman who authorities say fatally stabbed her boyfriend at a Michigan motel in October has been sentenced to 4 to 15 years in prison.
The Lansing State Journal reports Jennifer Hatfield, who pleaded no contest to a manslaughter charge in January, learned her punishment this week in Clinton County Circuit Court. A no contest plea isn’t an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.
Police have said the Grand Rapids woman called to report that 36-year-old Jerry Wright Jr. of Lima, Ohio, had been stabbed in the chest during an argument at the Green Acres Motel in DeWitt Township, near Lansing. Investigators said that alcohol was a factor in the case.
