Illinois woman dies after setting herself on fire with fuel

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (AP) — Police say a woman in suburban Chicago has died after dousing herself with gasoline and setting herself ablaze.

Buffalo Grove Police says the woman died in a hospital Saturday, a day after the fire. Her name wasn’t released.

Police say the woman poured gasoline onto her clothing and body and set herself afire at a Circle K station.

Christian Bradley of Carpentersville told the Chicago Tribune was driving by when he someone wearing a large, bulky coat on an unseasonably warm day, standing at a gas pump and lifting something with one hand. He says suddenly, flames exploded 6 feet into the air.

Bradley says the woman took a few steps and fell, and he and others doused the flames with clothing, a painter’s tarp and a fire extinguisher.
