FENNVILLE, Mich. -- The Fennville Varsity Wrestling Team had a very notable season this year, but it had nothing to do with the score.

Four out of ten team members were girls, the most that Fennville Varsity Wrestling team coach Steve Fries has ever seen.

Wrestling is most commonly a male dominated sport, but that didn't stop Alex Holtsclaw, Sarah Johnson, Brittany Sale, and Krissy Okon from hitting the mat this season.  It was the very first time that all four had wrestled.

The girls say it was really hard at first and it was easy to be intimidated, but as time went on they were able to grow and get better.

Coach Fries treats the girls no differently than the boys.  He says that everyone on the team does the exact same things at practice and has the same expectations during meets.

All four girls say they plan to continue the sport in the future.
