Ohio governor and GOP presidential candidate John Kasich and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders will both make campaign stops in the state on Monday.
Kasich will speak at Grand Valley State University’s Allendale campus during a free town hall meeting. The event, being hosted by the GVSU College Republicans, begins at 9:45 in the university’s Kirkoff Center. Organizers are requesting people RSVP if they plan to attend.
Kasich’s visit in Michigan heads east with a 3:30 rally planned at Michigan State University in East Lansing before he’s slated to appear at events Monday evening and Tuesday morning in the Metro Detroit area.
Later Monday, Sanders will hold a rally on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. Doors open for the rally at Convocation Hall at 12:30 p.m. He’s expected to take the stage by 2:30 p.m. It will mark the Democratic candidate’s first visit to Michigan.
Sanders’ event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but organizers say RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
Both candidates’ visits come just a few weeks before Michigan’s March 8 primary election.
