WEST MICHIGAN – A major winter storm will track through the West Great Lakes keeping our area in the mild air. Heavy snow is expected across parts of the Upper Peninsula with the chance of freezing rain and sleet over northern lower. Mainly rain is forecast for West Michigan.
Winter Weather Warnings extend from Colorado to the Upper Peninsula with Blizzard Warnings for parts of Iowa and Minnesota.
Low pressure will track to northern Missouri by Tuesday afternoon with rain spreading into West Michigan. Temperatures may be cold enough for a wintry mix well north of I-96. All precipitation in our area will change to rain by evening as warm air pushes northward.
The storm will track over the northern parts of the state by Wednesday afternoon. Rain will change with and mix with snow for West Michigan.
The most significant effects for West Michigan will be rainfall and wind. Winds for Tuesday will be east at 20-30 mph with gusts over 40 mph. Rainfall amounts by Wednesday morning will range from 1/2 inch to 1 inch.
