NEWAYGO, Mich. - The Newaygo County Sheriffs Department is saying that it appears the man's body pulled from the Muskegon River Thursday was a suicide.

The man's body was found in a red SUV at the bottom of the river near the Croton Dam.  Investigators say that the man, a 47-year-old Newaygo resident had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Fishermen in the area discovered the vehicle and a police dive team discovered the man.  His identity has not yet been released.
