Scores line up for Trump Vermont event in Sanders’ hometown

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Supporters of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and opponents are lining up outside the Burlington theater where Trump is scheduled to appear, just a few feet from the City Hall where U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders got his start.

By about noon there were about 100 people in line, although the line was growing. Trump is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m.

Burlington resident Mark Conrad says he got in line at 4:30 a.m. Thursday. He says he can’t stand Trump, but he’d like to ask him if it’s irresponsible to distribute 20,000 tickets to the Burlington event in a theater with 1,400 seats as police have said.

Local police say even people with confirmed tickets will be turned away once the theater is full. They say counter demonstrations are likely.
