Local woman deals with second bout of breast cancer

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After facing her second battle with breast cancer and undergoing a double mastectomy, a West Michigan woman is sharing her story, looking to bring hope to other women who are in the same fight.

Ann Pedersen was diagnosed four years ago with stage zero breast cancer.  She caught it early, doing self-breast examinations.

Doctors told her that there wasn't a need for chemotherapy or radiation, but she did have a bilateral mastectomy to cut down on the chances that the cancer would return.

But, a few months ago, Ann found another lump. This time she is undergoing treatment - chemo and radiation.

Now, she is sharing her story and the importance of having a support system, hoping that it will help others battling breast cancer.
