Consumers Energy preparing for potential outages during ice storm

Posted

WEST MICHIGAN — The potential for outages comes less than a week after hundreds of thousands of customers were left in the dark following a powerful Christmas Eve windstorm.

FOX 17 spoke with Consumers Energy's Vice President of Generation Operations Guy Packard about expected power outages during Monday night's winter storms as crews are preparing for another storm that could bring high winds and ice.

Ice accumulations of at least a quarter inch put enough weight on power lines to cause outages.
