HARPER WOODS, Mich. (AP) – One man has been killed and another arrested following a shooting outside a suburban Detroit shopping mall.
Harper Woods Deputy Police Chief Ted Stager told reporters that the victim was shot multiple times just before 6 p.m. Saturday as he walked out of a store at Eastland Center, just northeast of Detroit.
He later died at a hospital.
Stager said a man “associated with the shooting” was in custody. It wasn’t immediately clear if that man is the gunman.
Stager also said the shooting was not random.
Two people were shot near the mall in 2014. In 2010, a man was fatally shot in his car in the mall’s parking lot. Two other men were wounded during another shooting at the mall in 2010.
