GRANDVILLE, Mich. – As we continue our Forever Home series, FOX 17 introduces you to Abbi, 15, a high school sophomore who’s smart, direct, and loving.
Thursday morning FOX 17 and Abbi had special holiday shopping to do at RiverTown Crossings mall where Abbi spent her gift card donated by Hadley Advantage. As far as shopping goes, Abbi is the best shopper around: she’s efficient, knows exactly what she wants, and spent her gift card down to the exact amount and two pennies!
Walking through the mall in her new burgundy shoes, Abbi searched for a matching colored top asking us, “This is cute, does it match my shoes?”
An impressive shopper, Abbi is fun to be with.
“I’m really loving, I’m caring, I love animals especially tigers, that’s my favorite animal,” she said.
Abbi is a high school sophomore who loves music, being outdoors and taking walks, but mostly writing.
“I journal all the time,” said Abbi.
An aspiring author, Abbi told FOX 17 she first wants to publish her life’s story.
“I want to be an author, like I want to be big, I want people to read my stories, I want people to like me,” said Abbi. “I want to be big.”
But to accomplish this goal, she needs parents to help her.
“I just really want a family,” said Abbi. “I think everybody deserves one.”
Abbi has been moving between foster care placements since she was just five-years-old, and said she is hopeful she will be adopted soon.
“I feel a little hurt, but I also am thinking it’s coming,” said Abbi.
Abbi is keeping her hopes for a family close to her heart this holiday season.
“It made me stronger, it doesn’t break me down,” said Abbi. “I mean sometimes it does break me down but mostly it’s made me stronger.”
