DETROIT, Mich — West Catholic junior David Fox ran for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns as the the Falcons held off River Rouge, 40-34, to win the division 5 state championship on Saturday.
The title is the 3rd straight for West Catholic and the 4th in the last 5 years.
Sophomore quarterback Gaetano Vallone completed 7 of 13 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown, he also ran 19 times for 155 yards.
West Catholic (12-2) ran for 357 yards in the game. The Panthers (12-2) stayed in it behind quarterback Antoine Burgess completed 13 of 19 passes for 354 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
The performance was extra sweet for Fox who began the season as the teams quarterback but missed most of the season due to injury.
