KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A 23-year-old man is in jail after Kalamazoo Public Safety officers found him hiding behind a garage after a home invasion.

The incident began just before midnight Thursday in the 1200 block of Vassar Drive.  Officers were called to a home where a resident said that the man had come into their home through a rear sliding door and stolen an iPad. The resident confronted the man and after a threat, the suspect fled the home.  An officer and his K-9, Titan, began tracking the suspect.  In the meantime, two other residents called police reporting break-ins to their garages.

The suspect was found behind a garage in the 1100 block of Homecrest.  Police say the suspect is also a suspect in a domestic assault from earlier in the night in the 1600 block of Southern Avenue.  He faces charges of home invasion, domestic assault, three counts of breaking and entering, and other outstanding warrants.
