GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police say a 20-year-old man ordered an Uber and asked the driver to take him home after he was shot.

The Uber driver told police he picked the man up outside J Gardella’s Tavern, 11 Ionia Ave. SW.    He discovered the man had been shot and then called police, according to a release.  He dropped the man off at a home near the Fulton Street Market, police said.

Police were called to the market to talk to the driver at about 12:26 a.m. Thursday, according to a release.

Investigators do not know where the shooting occurred but said it’s unlikely it happened anywhere near the bar.  The man had a gunshot wound to his thigh and the injury was not serious, according to police.

The victim’s name has not been released.   The incident remains under investigation and no other details about the shooting are available at this time.
