DETROIT, Mich. — Rod Wood on Thursday was named as the new team president for the Detroit Lions.
The decision to appoint Wood, 55, to the position was announced by Lions owner Martha Firestone Ford. He was previously president and CEO of Ford Estates, according to a release.
“Rod’s familiarity with our organization in his role as President and CEO of Ford Estates and his accomplishments in the business world not only make him an ideal choice as Team President, but will also help ensure a smooth and positive transition for our organization,” Ford said in a release.
Former team president Tom Lewand and general manager Martin Mayhew were fired Nov. 5. According to a release, an advisory board has been established to search for the next general manager.
