Armed robbery outside Grand Rapids grocery store

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police are looking for at least two people after an alleged armed robbery in front of the Family Fare on E. Fulton Street.

Wesley Borkowski, 20, said he was sitting in his Ford Explorer in the parking lot around 4:30 p.m. Monday texting someone when two people jumped into his car and held a gun to his neck.

Borkowski now says he's thankful to be alive.

One of the suspects sat in the passenger seat, the other in the back seat behind Borkowski. "I could just feel it (the gun) up against my neck when they said, 'You know what this is, you know what this is,'" he said. "I looked to my side and could see it just sticking out right here."

Borkowski said he handed over his cell phone before the pair took off.

The phone was later found on the ground a short distance away. A K-9 team was brought in to try and track the suspects, but so far no arrests have been made.
