JENISON, Mich. — Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has postponed his appearance in Ottawa County Monday night.

According to Matt Benyon, the Communications Director for Santorum for President 2016 in a press release:

“Unfortunately, due to a severe bout with laryngitis, Senator Santorum has been forced to postpone his previously scheduled speech tonight in Michigan. The Senator greatly regrets his inability to attend tonight’s dinner and looks forward to returning to Michigan very soon. However, in order to speak loudly in support of hardworking American families in Tuesday evening’s debate, the campaign decided it was best that the Senator rest his voice on Monday.

Santorum was scheduled to offer the keynote address for the Ottawa County Reagan Day Dinner at Sunnybrook Country Club.

Several high-profile Republican leaders from across the state are expected to attend, including Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel.

The dinner starts at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are required and can be purchased for $40 ahead of time or $50 at the door. Ticket information available here.

Tuesday night is fourth Republican primary presidential debate of the season. Because of poll numbers, Santorum will appear in the earlier “under card” debate, alongside New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee,  and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.  FOX 17 will have live updates from Milwaukee starting at 4:00pm on Monday.
